Social media has become the primary channel for market-moving information. From retail investor coordination on Reddit to crypto whale alerts on Telegram, the signals are there — if you know how to extract them.
The Pipeline
Our financial signal detection system processes social media posts through multiple stages:
**Entity Recognition.** We identify ticker symbols, company names, cryptocurrency addresses, and financial instrument mentions using a combination of pattern matching and context-aware disambiguation.
**Event Classification.** Posts are classified into financial event categories: earnings discussion, regulatory news, product launches, insider activity, whale movements, and market sentiment.
**Signal Scoring.** Each detected signal receives a confidence score based on source credibility, post engagement, cross-platform corroboration, and historical accuracy.
Coverage
The system currently covers:
- Stock tickers (NYSE, NASDAQ)
- Cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, SOL, and 500+ altcoins)
- Macroeconomic indicators
- Regulatory announcements
- DeFi protocol events
Use Cases
**Quantitative Researchers.** Augment price data with social sentiment signals for alpha generation.
**Risk Analysts.** Monitor social media for early warning signs of reputational crises or coordinated market manipulation.
**Trading Firms.** Integrate real-time signal feeds into execution algorithms.
Accuracy Metrics
After three months of production deployment:
- 87% precision on stock-related signal detection
- 92% recall on major crypto event detection
- Average latency under 30 seconds from post to signal
